Unplug your AirPort Extreme, and wait 10 seconds. Plug it back in, and connect to the WiFi network as soon as possible, then immediately go to the AirPort Utility. The AirPort should appear and be manageable (by clicking on it) for a brief period—quickly click on it, click Edit, then clear out any Apple IDs in the 'Back to My Mac' section. I am running Windows 8 Pro on a HP Pavilion Laptop Entertainment PC. I have a new Apple AirPort Extreme (5th Gen). I should be able to logically solve this problem but have not been able to. Problem: Cannot find the AirPort Extreme as a device on my "private" network nor the USB 3.0 connected External Hard Drive. What works: There is a Airport Utility for Windows that allows him to set up Extreme. Oh it’s works. He is connected to Internet and has 2.4 and 5 Ghz enabled. Matter of fact he loves the easy setup. But in Airport Utility under “Disk” tab the Extreme sees his External drive and he has file sharing enabled just can not see drive from his Windows PC. You will see AirPort Extreme on your screen.
